Garioch lies at the heart of rural Aberdeenshire, and is home to nearly 54,000 people (about 20% of Aberdeenshire’s population). Garioch’s population has risen steadily over the past 10 years and the area has good rail and road connections, with upgrades to these networks already in progress. The area borders Marr, Formartine and Kincardine & Mearns and stretches from Insch in the west, to Newmachar in the east and Westhill in the south. The main towns in Garioch are; Inverurie, Westhill, Kintore and Newmachar.
The Garioch Community Planning Group (GCPG) brings together representatives from the Community Planning Partners to identify and address the needs and concerns of those living in the Garioch area.
