The Formartine Local Community Planning Group brings together representatives from the Community Planning Partners to identify and address the needs and concerns of the Formartine area.
What's New?
The Formartine Community Plan details the Formartine Community Planning Group's activity for the next four years. After listening to Community Councils, community groups and residents all their views and opinions have been taken into account and developed into the Community Plan for 2010 - 2014. Have a look through the plan and find out what will be happening. Monitoring of the actions will also be done to ensure that what we say will be done is done and that they are on target to be completed.

- Balmedie View Report Published - The report of the Balmedie Views Project is now available. The Project, funded by Aberdeenshire Community Learning and Development involved using community based action researchers to gather the views of residents of Balmedie and encourage the formation of community groups in the area.
- Grampian Police have commenced their "Kill Your Speed" campaign in early December 2009 to try and
 raise awareness of the speed at which some drivers are travelling at when approaching the Towns and Villages across Formartine. The most common complaint to Police in Formartine from Councillors and Community Councils is speeding, and therefore there was a need to address this. Funding was granted by the local community planning group to raise awareness by producing a leaflet for members of the public. (See left). Grampian Police will also be carrying out speed checks at various locations throughout Formartine to curb people's speed.
 Launch of Field of Dreams Report by the Autism Sub Group of Formartine Local Community Planning Group 30th November 2009 Field of Dreams Report
Around 25 people turned up to the launch of the report to look at the lack of services for young people on the Autistic Spectrum. A good disucssion was held and from the day a Action Plan will be generated to identify the focus of the Autism Group.

We want to hear the views of young people in the Formartine Area of Aberdeenshire.
Young people's views are just as important as everyone else in the community and thats why it is so important for young people to have their voice heard. There are various ways of doing this throughout Formartine and Aberdeenshire. Some examples are shown below:
Dialogue Youth works to bring young people and Local Government closer together
an d therefore by attend ing Aberdeenshire Youth Forum, young people can have their views heard at local level, area level and at a national level.

Locals invited to air their views at Formartine Forum
The annual Formartine Forum workshop event will be taking place in Meldrum Academy again this year on Thursday 3rd December 2009 at 6.30pm, giving every one in Formartine an opportunity to share their views on how the area can be made even better for those who live work and play here. Read More...
Planning for Real® - Pitmedden and Udny May 2008 
Udny Community Council with support of the Formartine Partnership held a Planning for Real® exercise in Pitmedden school in May 2008.
The Formartine Local Community Planning Group supported the Community Council to run the event.
The event was well attended with a good number of Pitmedden and Udny residents coming along to air their views on their community.
 Dragons Den
The Formartine Dragons Den event held in Oldmeldrum during September was a great success with the 4 finalists showing both courage and innovation as they presented their ideas to a panel of 'Dragons' led by Mark Kelman of Kelman Engineering of Turriff, who kindly sponsored the event.
Loafface Cooking Co-operative were the overall winners, impressing everyone with their business skills and innovative recipe ideas.
Visitors from Northern Ireland 
On the 19th of November, members of the Community Planning group met with visitors from the Northern Irish Education and Library Boards, who were on a study visit in Aberdeenshire to learn about Youth Engagement and Community Planning.
The visitors were welcomed to the Ythan Centre in Ellon for an informal discussion on community planning in the Formartine area.
The discussion was wide ranging and included the work done by young people to facilitate development of the Ythan Centre, as well as the role of community councils, the rural partnerships, the voluntary sector and the overall structure of community planning in Aberdeenshire.
The visit was very positive in building relations with the exchange of information and good practice.
Information event at Woodhead Brothers Factory in Turriff
The Turriff Manager Group (a sub group of the Formartine Community Planning group) organised an information event at Woodhead Bros. factory in Turriff during November.
Woodhead Bros. employs around 300 people in its meat processing factory with around two thirds of those coming from out with Scotland. 
The event, which was supported by a number of organisations, was an opportunity for employees to learn more about the services that are available in the area.
Those who came along found it very useful and were able to take away a wide range of advice and information from the Services who were in attendance.
