Community Action Plan
The Community Association together with Buchan Development Partnership facilitated a community consultation using the Planning For Real® process in 2007.
The process identified things that various members of the community liked such as:
- Cruden Bay is a good place to raise a family
- Lovely beach, friendly people, excellent surgery, good selection of shops
The process also identified things that various members of the community didn’t like such as:
- Speeding vehicles through the village
- The Beach Bridge needs done up
Members of the community highlighted many issues including an improvement required to recycling facilities, tidying up required in the Harbour Area, provision of disabled access to the Beach, more Dog Bins, a need for the Chemist to open on Saturdays, a higher Police presence and re-introduction of the old Neighbourhood Scheme.
The outcomes from the Planning for Real community consultation, together with the results of an interagency workshop looking at service needs in the area, were used by the community to create a prioritised Action Plan to help the community to focus on and develop their goals. Overall the community agreed that the top four priorities should be:
- Housing Development at Brickwork Pond
- Improve Community Facilities
- Traffic Calming – Braehead Drive
- Harbour
